why are all of the poetry prompts about a
significant other?
is it not possible for someone (namely ME) to poetically mull over something unlike
the taste of your skin
or the pleasures of your body against mine?
maybe i want to write about something that doesn’t conjure memories about
the scent of my bed after you’ve left or
a final parting of sorts.
i guess
no matter the prompt,
its difficult moving past you.
i burned my tongue
hastily attempting to quench my thirst
this tea is a metaphor
for some reason
well, i know the reason, but
i looked up poetry writing prompts/exercises
and you know what?
fuck similes
like
sorry i’m not in sixth grade anymore
(more like third)
but “eyes as blue as oceans” is the trademark of poor writing
deal with it.
